The holidays are a popular time to give thank you gifts, both monetary and materials. Here's how to say "thank you" to your employees, now or any other time.
- Catch someone doing something right. Always be aware of employees actions and effort level. You can keep track of who is coasting and who is really giving it their all by keeping your eyes and ears open. Be sure to notice who is doing their job exceptionally well, and let them know.
- Practice public employee recognition. Acknowledge a job well done publicly. This doesn't have to be a company-wide staff meeting, or during the executive speech at the holiday party. However, when someone is doing an exceptional job, make sure everyone knows.
- Give small, tangible rewards. Raises and bonuses are important, but show appreciation in the short term and give an unscheduled reward for doing well day after day in the form of a small denomination gift card, or other small gift.
